Medical Student FAQ's
What jobs can you do as a medical student?

To pay the bills you can do any job which fits your studies as a medical student, but if you want something in the field here are some options: healthcare assistant or care worker, a receptionist at a hospital, dental practice, or GP clinic, health journalist, or medical research work.

Can you work whilst being a med student?

Yes, you can work (although not as a doctor). However, part-time of casual work is recommended as there is a lot of study involved and students can burnout.

When can medical students work with a recruitment agency?

Once they complete their Bachelor's Degree in medicine, register with APHRA, and become a Resident Medical Officer. An RMO is a doctor in PGY-2 who works for public hospitals to gain clinical experience after their first-year internship. They work under the supervision of more senior medical specialists.
