Discover the great outdoors

Multi-day hikes, surfing, river rafting, snowboarding, and bike trails - you can do it all in this outdoor-lovers haven. The only city you'll find here is New Plymouth, which has a population of just 74,000, so you can expect to explore the region all to yourself. Surf Highway 45 is 105kms long and the scenic drive is a near-perfect semi-circle, which means there'll always be at least one spot with great surf. The Pouakai Crossing is one of NZ's best walks - the track leads through a series of untouched landscapes on the slopes under Mount Taranaki.

Egmont National Park

The huge volcano Taranaki is at the centre of lush rainforests, flowing waterfalls, mossy swamps and a vast network of trails. In the national park you'll discover the country's most perfectly formed volcano - it's 120,000 years old and last erupted in 1775. If you're looking to do a walk, there's something for everyone. You can choose from a quick stroll along the Kamahi Track, or go on the three-day Pouakai Circut. You can also discover some beautiful flora and fauna - from rimu and rata trees to sub-alpine shrubs and more.

Conveniently located between Wellington and Auckland, getting to Taranaki is easy. You can fly, or travel by train, bus or car. If you drive, be sure to travel along the surf highway, which connects New Plymouth to Hawera - if surfing's not your thing, no worries, there are plenty of welcoming villages, historic sites, cafes, and scenic spots. If you travel by bus, you will more than likely need to change buses in New Plymouth - what a perfect opportunity to check out some of the boutique stores, delicious eateries, galleries, and museums on offer.

Why Medrecruit

Medrecruit is a medical recruitment agency with a difference. We make a difference in the lives of doctors by changing how medicine works and having a real-world impact on communities across Australia and New Zealand.

Medrecruit has the largest network of jobs in Australia and New Zealand, double the next largest agency. This provides you with the highest chance of getting the right role, and our scale provides you with a hiring advantage as many employers come to us exclusively before going to market.

In 2017, Our founder, Dr Sam Hazledine successfully lobbied the World Medical Association to amend the Declaration of Geneva (the modern-day Hippocratic Oath) to include: I WILL ATTEND to my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard.

Since then Medrecruit has continued to advocate for, educate, and work towards better health and well-being for all healthcare professionals. Medrecruit is built for doctors, by doctors.
