Senior Anaesthetic Registrar / Provisional Fellow – 2027 Intake

Location: Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), Tasmania

Employment Type: Fixed‑term, Full‑time (Day worker with on‑call)

Contract Period: 1 February 2027 – 7 February 2028

Hours: 76 hours per fortnight + 10 hours protected training time

Salary: Medical Practitioner Level 5–11 – $134,930 to $189,005 p.a. (pro rata) + 12% superannuation

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking applications for Senior Anaesthetic Registrar / Provisional Fellow positions for 2027 through the Tasmanian Anaesthetic Training Program (TATP). Up to six provisional fellowship positions are available at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

About the Role

These ANZCA‑approved provisional fellowships provide an excellent bridge from senior registrar to independent specialist practice. Fellows gain broad exposure across a high‑acuity tertiary centre, including trauma, obstetrics, paediatrics, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery and complex perioperative care.

Opportunities exist within a general fellowship framework as well as special interest pathways, including:

• Regional Anaesthesia
• Perioperative Medicine (ANZCA GChPOM accredited site)
• Simulation and Medical Education
• Paediatrics
• Global Outreach Anaesthesia

Fellows are actively supported to engage in education, research, leadership and quality improvement, and to teach medical students and junior trainees.

Eligibility (Essential)

• AHPRA General or Limited Registration
• Enrolled in the ANZCA training program

Desirable:

• Completion of all ANZCA Fellowship Examinations and within 12 months of FANZCA
