About the Role We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist – Older Persons Mental Health to join a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care, treatment planning, and governance for consumers aged 65 + experiencing mental illness and cognitive disorders.
The role spans inpatient and community settings within a large metropolitan health service.
Key responsibilities include: Comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing management of older adults Clinical leadership and collaboration with GPs, aged care facilities, and internal teams Supervision and education of junior medical staff and registrars Compliance with the Mental Health Act and accurate documentation in electronic systems Preparation of clinical reports and participation in multidisciplinary meetings About You FRANZCP or equivalent, with advanced training or accredited membership in psychiatry of old age AHPRA specialist registration in psychiatry Strong leadership, teaching, and collaborative skills Commitment to recovery-oriented care and cultural safety What They Offer Professional development, teaching, and research opportunities Flexible part-time arrangements to support work–life balance Competitive remuneration and generous superannuation Inclusive, supportive workplace culture
