Consultant Psychiatrist – Public Hospital Setting
Location: Wellington, New Zealand
Employment Type: Permanent (1 January 2027 – 31 December 2027)
Salary: $200,000 – $350,000 per annum
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity is available for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established mental health service in Wellington. You will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across inpatient and/or community settings.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, developing and overseeing treatment plans, and providing clinical leadership within the service. You will work closely with junior medical staff, nursing teams, and allied health professionals, while also contributing to teaching, supervision, and continuous service improvement initiatives.

This 484-bed Regional Hospital is the region’s main emergency and only trauma service, with a rooftop helipad providing a link to surgical, intensive care, neonatal intensive care and emergency services.
