Clinical Lead – Consultant Psychiatrist, Older Persons Mental Health

Location: Nepean Hospital, Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD), NSW, Australia

Employment Type: Full-Time or negotiable part-time

Salary: Competitive (NSW Health Award), with relocation and visa support


About the Role

Nepean Hospital is seeking a senior Consultant Psychiatrist to lead its Older Persons Mental Health Unit. This position combines direct clinical care with strategic leadership, supporting inpatient and community services for older adults with complex conditions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing psychiatric care to older adults in inpatient and community settings

• Leading governance, service development, and quality improvement

• Mentoring junior medical staff

• Working with teams to deliver person-centred, culturally safe care

• Aligning care with NBMLHD’s strategic vision

Nepean Hospital’s Older Persons Mental Health Unit is part of a mental health centre including PECC, Acute Unit, and HDU. It provides 24-hour care with strong community links.
