Job Description:

EXTERNAL JOB AD – Consultant Paediatrician (Child Development)

Location: Wheatbelt Region, Western Australia

Role: Consultant Paediatrician – Child Development

Contract: Permanent or fixed-term | Full Time, Part Time or Sessional

Salary: $412,161 – $523,436 p.a. (including PD allowance + 12% super) | Sessional: $790.09–$1,003.40 per session


About the Role

You will deliver child development and general paediatric services across Northam, Narrogin, Merredin, and Moora, working closely with families, allied health, and community teams. This position blends clinical leadership, developmental paediatrics, community outreach, and service improvement with a strong values-driven approach to rural health.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead paediatric child development assessments and management across multiple Wheatbelt sites
  • Provide outpatient and community paediatric care for children with developmental and behavioural needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic child and family wellbeing
  • Mentor junior doctors and contribute to education and training
  • Drive service development, quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • AHPRA specialist registration in Paediatrics & Child Health
  • Experience in developmental paediatrics and child protection
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills
  • Commitment to culturally safe practice and rural community health
