Job Description:

Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist – Permanent Full-Time


Location: Launceston, Tasmania

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist to join a supportive and collaborative haematology service in Northern Tasmania. This permanent full-time role offers an excellent blend of clinical and laboratory responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to teaching, research, and high‑quality patient care.


About the Role

You will be based in Launceston, providing both inpatient and outpatient haematology services, as well as laboratory haematology responsibilities. The role also includes outreach outpatient clinics to sites in Burnie and Latrobe.

This position offers a high level of professional variety, strong collegial support across specialties, and opportunities to participate in teaching, clinical trials, research programs, and multidisciplinary meetings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist diagnostic and consultative services in adult haematology across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Deliver laboratory haematology services and participate in on‑call duties.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and trainee supervision.
  • Participate in research, clinical trials, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Details of Appointment

  • Permanent full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
  • Day work with on-call requirements
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: $216,300 – $310,389 p.a. (Specialist to Senior Specialist), plus allowances
  • Eligibility for Senior Specialist salary levels is subject to criteria in the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
