This hospital is situated on the Northern Tablelands, in the New England region of New South Wales (NSW), 570km from Sydney. It is known as the Celtic country because of its early Scottish settlers.

This is a public hospital, with less than 50 beds and an emergency department. There is visiting psychology and psychiatry services as well as Community Health and Community Mental Health services on the hospital campus.

The nearest domestic airport is 100 km from the hospital. For those who are driving please note that the town is a 6-hour drive from Sydney and 5.5 hours from Brisbane.
