General Practitioner – Virtual Emergency Care

About the Role

We are seeking experienced General Practitioners to deliver high‑quality acute and unscheduled care through a virtual emergency care service operating on a statewide model. This role involves providing real‑time clinical assessment, advice, and management to patients presenting with urgent medical concerns via secure video consultation.

Working within a multidisciplinary virtual emergency team, you will manage a broad range of presentations that can be safely treated at home, while supporting escalation and coordination of care when in‑person services are required. This is an opportunity to practise clinically rewarding medicine in a modern, digitally enabled environment without the physical demands of a traditional emergency department.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision of acute and unplanned care via video consultation
• Comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of urgent presentations
• Clinical decision‑making regarding home management, escalation, or referral
• Collaboration with emergency medicine specialists and broader healthcare teams
• Contribution to clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development
• Participation in flexible rostering, including sessional and part‑time options

About You

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or equivalent, recognised for specialist registration with AHPRA
• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Demonstrated experience in acute care, urgent care, or emergency presentations
• Strong communication skills and confidence delivering care via video consultation
• Interest in telehealth, virtual care models, or innovative healthcare delivery
