Job Description:

Consultant Gastroenterologist / Gastroenterology Fellow / SHMO – Gastroenterology

Location: Darwin, NT

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Full-Time (12 months, extension possible)

Salary: Up to $305,454 package + allowances

Start Date: Negotiable

About the Role

Join a busy gastroenterology service providing inpatient, outpatient, hepatology, and endoscopy care across Darwin hospitals. Manage a broad mix of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, participate in endoscopy and on-call services, and support multidisciplinary care. The role also includes supervision and teaching of junior medical staff. Remote outreach work may be required. International candidates can be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide gastroenterology and hepatology services.
  • Manage inpatient and outpatient workloads.
  • Participate in endoscopy and on-call rosters.
  • Supervise and teach junior doctors.
  • Support quality improvement and clinical governance.

Essential Criteria

  • Eligible for AHPRA registration.
  • FRACP, final-year Advanced Trainee, or comparable overseas-trained specialist.
  • Experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary care and Aboriginal health outcomes.
