Job Description:

Specialist Anaesthetist – Darwin, NT

Full‑time | Fixed term up to 2 years

Total package up to $395,666 – $552,403


NT Health is seeking several Specialist Anaesthetists to join the Division of Surgery and Critical Care, working across Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) and Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH).

RDH is the principal tertiary referral hospital for the Top End and is recognised as Australia’s National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, while PRH delivers planned and elective surgery as a satellite campus.

The Role

You’ll provide specialist‑level anaesthesia, acute pain and perioperative medicine services across:

  • Royal Darwin Hospital
  • Palmerston Regional Hospital
  • Surgical outreach services

The role also includes:

  • After‑hours emergency and consultancy cover (rostered)
  • Participation in education, supervision, and quality improvement activities
  • Involvement in service development within Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine

What You’ll Need

  • Specialist registration with AHPRA
  • FANZCA (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross‑cultural environment
  • A genuine commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
