Job Description:

Junior Medical Officer – Paediatrics

(Can join as Unaccredited Paediatric Trainee, Basic Paediatric Trainee, Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO))

New South Wales (less than 2 hours from Sydney)


Role Purpose

Out client is expanding their JMO cohort and seeking junior doctors with paediatric experience to join its collaborative and high‑calibre training network. This intake supports succession planning and ongoing service delivery across Northern NSW.


Training Environment

The hospital offers:

  • Exposure to diverse paediatric pathways including acute paediatrics, neonates, subspecialties, and community paediatrics.
  • Supervision from experienced Paediatric Staff Specialists dedicated to teaching.

Eligibility Requirements:

Paediatric experience

  • Minimum 6 months paediatrics experience required
    • Any rotation is acceptable (general paeds ideal; specialty paeds also acceptable).

International Candidates Welcome

  • AHPRA General Registration, or Limited/Provisional Registration – Level 2 supervision or above - appropriate supervision can be provided.
  • UK / Ireland preferred, but doctors from all countries are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality paediatric inpatient/outpatient care.
  • Participate in admissions, ward rounds, family communication, consults, and acute care.
  • Engage in QI activities, audits, and junior doctor education.
  • Participate in rostered after-hours shifts.


Salary Band:

  • $80,000–$170,000+ depending on level, penalties, and overtime.


Client Description:

This is a large 651-bed teaching hospital located 10 minutes from Newcastle CBD. 

The complex consists of a single building, which is divided into 694 adult beds and another 126 paedaitric beds in the Children's Hospital. The CAMHS unit has 12 beds.
