Resident Medical Officer

Our client is advertising an opportunity for an Ophthalmology RMO Fellow - Paediatric to permanently join their team at a public hospital in New Zealand's North Island.

The ideal start date for this position is February or March 2026.

Qualifications

• Qualification from the appropriate Medical body, evidence of registration with relevant Medical Council, and appropriate professional body affiliations.
• New Zealand Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand under GENERAL SCOPE. Please use the MCNZ tool to confirm your eligibility under general scope before applying. 
• Passed their RANZCO Exam or International Equivalent, or be in the final year of ophthalmology training. 

Experience

• Experience in ophthalmology.
• Able to work unsupervised in clinic and operating theatres.

• Demonstrate the ability to develop links with the community.
• Demonstrate a well-developed community perspective.
• Be genuinely interested in people, and able to relate to a wide range of people in a helpful, intellectual and compassionate manner

This 484-bed Regional Hospital is the region’s main emergency and only trauma service, with a rooftop helipad providing a link to surgical, intensive care, neonatal intensive care and emergency services.
