Job Description:
Career Medical Officer (Oncology) – North‑West Cancer Centre, Tasmania
Location: Burnie TAS
Contract: Fixed term (3–4 years) | Part‑time (up to 45.6 hrs/fortnight)
Hours: Monday–Friday only | No after-hours or on‑call
Salary: $128,750 – $183,340 p.a. (pro rata) + 12% super + salary packaging
An excellent opportunity is available for a Career Medical Officer to join the North‑West Cancer Centre in Burnie, supporting the care of patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This long-term, day‑only role offers predictable hours, a supportive multidisciplinary environment, and the chance to contribute to high‑quality cancer services across one of Tasmania’s key regional centres.
About the Role
You will assess and review oncology patients, support ongoing outpatient care, and coordinate with the wider hospital when patients require admission or emergency input. The role also includes inpatient consultations, participation in MDT meetings, and involvement in quality improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Review patients attending for chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy
Support ongoing management of outpatient cancer patients
Coordinate communication with the broader hospital team
Provide inpatient consults at NWRH
Participate in MDT meetings and service improvement work
About You
AHPRA General or Limited Registration
Strong interest in oncology and collaborative care
Effective communication and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
