Job Description:

Medical Registrar – Basic Physician Trainee

Location: Darwin & Palmerston, NT

Employment Type: Fixed Term Full-Time (12 months)

Salary: $122,264 - $153,195

Start Date: 1 February 2027

About the Role

Join a major Top End hospital network as a Medical Registrar (Basic Physician Trainee). Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient care across tertiary and regional services while progressing through Basic Physician Training. Work with diverse patient populations, including regional and remote communities. International candidates can be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage medical patients.

• Develop treatment plans and coordinate investigations.

• Maintain accurate clinical records and discharge summaries.

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

• Participate in outreach, teaching and clinical meetings.

• Supervise junior medical staff.

• Support research, audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Criteria

• Eligible for Medical Board of Australia registration.

• Medical Registrar experience or PGY3+ level.

• Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Commitment to education and professional development.

• Interest in Aboriginal health and culturally diverse care.
