Clinical Director / Head of Department – Medicine

Location: Maitland Hospital, Hunter Valley, NSW

Employment Type: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) | Fixed Term or Permanent

About the Role

Lead the Department of Medicine in a modern regional hospital, providing strategic, clinical and operational leadership. Ensure safe, high-quality patient care while driving service development, workforce excellence and innovation. Approximately 50% of the role is clinical.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead governance, service planning and performance improvement

 • Manage workforce recruitment, training and wellbeing

 • Drive education, research and accreditation

 • Champion innovative care models, including Virtual Care

 • Lead quality, safety and risk initiatives

 • Build strong stakeholder partnerships

Essential Criteria

• FRACP and AHPRA registration (or eligibility)

 • Senior leadership experience in General Medicine or similar specialty

 • Experience in governance, workforce and service development

 • Strong communication and change management skills

 • Passion for education and research

 • International candidates can be considered
