Director – Emergency Medicine (Emergency Department)

Location: Launceston, TAS

Employment Type: Fixed Term Full-Time

Salary: $222,789 – $319,701 p.a. + 12% super + benefits

About the Role

A senior leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Emergency Medicine in a major regional referral hospital in Northern Tasmania. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 care to a broad population and works closely with medical, nursing, allied health, and ambulance services.

You will provide clinical and strategic leadership, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care. The role focuses on clinical governance, workforce planning, patient flow, and continuous service improvement while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Emergency Department clinical and operational performance
  • Oversee patient safety, quality, and governance frameworks
  • Drive workforce planning and service improvements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary and external services
  • Mentor and support medical staff at all levels

Essential Criteria

  • Specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA in Emergency Medicine
  • Extensive senior emergency medicine experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in clinical governance and service delivery
  • IMG specialists or candidates on the pathway may be considered
